BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE PROJECT IMPLENTING AGENCY


THERA means "FLOWER"

The THERA WELFARE SOCIETY is a registered NGOs under the Societies Registration Act, XXI of 1860, with the Regd. No.H/RS-4620, Dt.28/04/2006, with one of the objective of complete decentralization of power for proper implementation of Rural Poverty Alleviation Programs and direct percolation of funds to the Target Groups or Beneficiaries of people in the rural areas.

The objective of the Society is to promote and uplift the poor villagers and the area people in Agriculture Farming and other welfare programs particularly in Wokha District and Nagaland State in general, and impart Skill Up- Gradation of farming and training programs to be self-employed and sustenance and to encourage rural people for education and welfare programs, and to encourage Adult Education Comprehensive Development of the rural poor, irrespective of caste, creed, background, status or religion and to identify and serve the weaker section of the population in their struggle for development and to organize the rural population for effective participation in their own development to prepare programs and schemes for comprehensive and integrated improvement of social-economic conditions of the people.

The THERA WELFARE SOCIETY also promote and encourage Horticultural and Agriculture crops cultivation, Fisheries, Livestock, Farming for self-sustenance of a poor family and to make people conscious of their problem and help them to overcome these problems and also to identify and mobilize resources for the functioning of the society. To provide training for Self-employment, Income Generations and Self Reliance. The strategy is empowerment of Unemployed Youth, Rural Farmers, Women folk, Socio-economic development and Health care.

The aim of the Society is also to up-liftment of poor villagers and farmers and welfare programs for rural people and particularly women and child through setting up production of Agriculture and Livestocks centers and welfare programs for women & care center, hostels, residential school also to apply for financial assistance/ Grant-in-aid for establishment of all the above said programs in order to achieve the target of the society. The THERA WELFARE SOCIETY also aims at organizing various welfare programs for Women and Youth Empowerment, Health-care, Entrepreneurship programs, Vocational Training, Educational training, etc included in its objectives in jurisdiction and area of operation.

Activities of NTEP(National TB Elimination Programme)

  • Mass Awareness, Education and Seminars for the general public.
  • Organized Community meetings on targeted groups.
  • Training and workshops for the stakeholders and community learders.
  • Identification and motivation of TB suspected patients.
  • DOTS providing and counselling services and after care/relapse prevention programme.
  • Referral services to the DOTS centre.

Activities for Tambul and Rubber Farming.

  • Seminar and Workshop on Self Reliance and Income Generation.
  • Training on Tambul and Rubber Cultivation.

Aims & Objective:

  • This society will provide all kinds of Social Welfare Services to all the communities in Nagaland and in the North East India irrespective of caste, sex, background, religion and status
  • This society will take up sustainable development and livelihood projects, such as Agri and Allied, Health Sectors, Fishery, Animal husbandry, Medicinal plants, Tea and Rubber plantation, Sericulture, Floriculture, Honeybee keeping etc.
  • To educate the whole community to fight against social evils and social problem through mass awareness education.
